Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNAs Nawab Yousuf Talpur, Ijaz Jakhrani and Imran Zafar Leghari Saturday said the people had rejected the hollow slogans of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) leaders.

In a joint statement, the PPP leaders said the democratic institutions came into being after a long public struggle and they would protect them. They said, in this information age, the media kept public abreast of facts, so people could not be trapped by hollow slogans of so-called revolutionaries.

They urged PTI chief Imran Khan to wind up his march, go to help rain-affected people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and make preparations for 2018 general elections.

The PPP legislators expressed that people will reject such politicians in 2018 elections who are staging “dramas” of marches and sit-ins.

Meanwhile, the incharge of the PPP media cell, Senator Saeed Ghani, condemned PAT chief Tahirul Qadri’s unconstitutional demand for the dissolution of parliament and provincial assemblies. He said the elected representatives did not need to seek certificate of honesty from Qadri.

He said Qadri did not have any place in Pakistan’s politics as he was bent upon harming democracy in the country.

About the PTI, he said it was a political party and its members were elected to parliament, therefore, the government should consider party’s those demands which were genuine and constitutional.
