PPP, JI won’t allow democracy to be derailed

Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq and National Assembly Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah have said that they would not allow derailment of democracy and hoped that all the political parties would agree on a consensus agenda.

Talking to media after a meeting with Shah, the JI chief assured the nation that they would not allow the country to return to darkness and said he was seeing light ahead. He thanked Shah for his guidance.

Haq said that martial law should not be imposed in any circumstance as it only inflicted harm in the past. He said it is time to show responsibility and asked the federal government to show magnanimity as it is the people’s right to make demands from the government.

He stressed that political leadership and workers must find out a solution to the present crisis. He said people are asking what will happen to Pakistan in the given situation and stressed that everyone should think about the country and democracy instead of advancing personal interests.

Shah said that there would be no compromise on democracy and urged the political parties to find a solution to the crisis. He said people should not be disappointed with the Constitution, Parliament and democracy.

He said if Parliament continues to work, problems would be resolved. He said the National Assembly will meet on Monday and the present political issues would be discussed to find a way out.
