Jamaat-e- Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch on Saturday said that political leadership would be responsible if democracy and political system was sabotaged in the country.

Talking to media persons here Saturday, he said that differences and confrontation among political leaderships could damage the democratic system.

Baloch said that Jamaat-e- Islami would continue its efforts to resolve the current political crises through holding negotiations. He urged the government, PTI and PAT leaderships to leave their differences aside in the best interest of the country and save the democratic system by resolving prevailing crises.

Liaquat Baloch said that PTI president Javed Hashmi ‘s statement “no one was acceptable as prime minister except Imran Khan” was undemocratic because only people have right to elect their prime minister in future through general elections. Other political parties should accept the mandate of the masses, he added.

He said that the constitution of the country could be harmed if the crises were not resolved. He said that there are some complications in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and any decision should be made in view of these facts.

“Protest is a war of nerves. We have spoken to PTI Chairman Imran Khan and the government within the constitutional limits”, he said.
