Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif said on Saturday that a united approach which includes the whole nation and the security forces can eventually eliminate terrorism and ensure durable peace in Balochistan and the rest of the country.
According to an ISPR press release, the army chief visited PAF Base Samungli and Khalid Aviation Base in Quetta on Saturday.
He commended the soldiers on thwarting the terror attacks, and also appreciated the local population for their cooperation in informing and encircling the terrorists who wanted to attack the two airbases.
The COAS said the entire nation had rejected terrorism and wanted to get rid of all terrorists. He vowed that a united approach including the whole nation and the security forces will eventually eliminate terrorism and ensure durable peace in Balochistan and the rest of the country.
Between the night of August 13 and 14, as many as 12 armed militants had tried storm the two airbases in Quetta, but the attack was thwarted by security forces, who suffered as many as 11 injuries.
The COAS later visited the Combined Military Hospital in Quetta and met the injured security officials and inquired after their health.
