Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar left for Dubai on Sunday to give final shape to decisions about the release of IMF’s next tranche to Pakistan.
Sources said after talks with IMF regional chief Jaffrey Frank followed by a joint press conference, the finance minister will return on Monday night. The finance ministry sources have described as baseless a private TV channel report that the finance minister has gone to Dubai in view of the political situation in the country.
The sources said a team of the finance ministry led by Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood was already in Dubai and holding talks with the IMF. According to a previous schedule, IMF Regional Chief Jaffrey Frank was to come to Islamabad for a joint news conference with Ishaq Dar but in view of the two sit-ins, he has cancelled his visit to Pakistan and the finance minister has gone to Dubai for signing of documents and press conference.
