Trade activities in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad had to suffer loss of Rs 3 billion due to blockage of routes as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ‘Azadi’ and Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s ‘Inqilabi’ marchers head toward the capital.
As per media reports, Ministry of Commerce is collecting statistics on how much loss was caused to the national economy due to the long marches.
Commerce minister Khurram Dastgir says it will take one year at least for recovery of national economy.
It should be mentioned here that the government has reportedly placed 7,000 containers on highways and roads to stop the two marches.
International trade has also been affected adversely due to the suspension of connection between the four provinces in light of the marches.
Social and economic experts reportedly said that after the huge trade loss, the government should change its strategy and ensure supply of food items to the citizens and stability of prices.
