NEW DELHI-

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday greeted his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on India’s  68th Independence Day.

Modi had congratulated Pakistan on its Independence Day on August 14th (yesterday.)

PM Sharif’s message was released in a statement Pakistan High Commission.

“Prime Minister Sharif greets Prime Minister Modi on India’s Independence Day, wishing prosperity to the people of India,” read the statement.

A friendly exchange of greetings between the two premiers follows a strong rebuttal by Pakistan when Modi accused Pakistan being invovlbed in a ‘proxy war’ against India.
