Governor says ‘we need to be cautious’ over protests

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that politicians of the country must be cautious that protests never spiral into disorder and turmoil.

Replying to queries about the PTI’s planned ‘Long March’, he opined that constitutional rights of every single citizen of the country as well as political parties had to be respected and similarly the former also ought to realise their responsibilities.

“No one should transcend their rights guaranteed under the constitution,” said the governor. Felicitating the nation on the eve of country’s 68th Independence Day, he hoped that sanity would prevail and discord would be resolved between the parties so that public confidence would be rebuild.

Dr Ishrat in this context also referred to the conference called by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, only a few days ago and attended by representatives of different political parties. “It was consensus opinion of the participants that matter must be resolved through talks according to the constitution,” said the governor.
