Several international countries including United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), some European and countries from Asia-Pacific region have issued travel advisories to their citizens alerting them not to travel to Pakistan because of the prevailing security and political situation.

According to a private television channel, governments of the said countries have also directed their diplomats to remain confined to their residences in Islamabad and not to move to any political event in the city due to serious security threats to such gatherings.

In addition, the diplomats have also been directed to move to Karachi to their respective consulate-generals in case the security situation in Islamabad becomes volatile.

The development comes as Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are holding anti-government rallies.
