WASHINGTON-

Setting aside the Indian prime minister’s proxy war allegation against Pakistan, the United States has reaffirmed its support for continued dialogue between Islamabad and New Delhi.

“Well, we have seen the comments; as we have in the past, continue to encourage dialogue between India and Pakistan,” State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said at the daily briefing.

Continuing her reply to a question, the spokesperson said Washington would “welcome any and all positive steps the two sides can take to strengthen and deepen their dialogue and cooperation.”

In Islamabad, the Foreign Ministry rejected as “baseless rhetoric” Narendra Modi’s allegations that Pakistan was waging a proxy war in India
