ZIARAT-
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated Quaid-e-Azam’s residency at Ziarat in Balochistan province on Thursday as Pakistan celebrates its 68th Independence Day, a private news channel reported.
PM Sharif was accompanied by Governor of Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achkzai, Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
The historical residency, where Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah spent the last two months and ten days of his life, was restored to its original condition after four months of reconstruction work.
The restoration cost around 150 million rupees.
On 15 June 2013, the building was burnt to ground after militants belonging to Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) fired rockets and grenades at it.
The watchman at the residency was also killed by the militants.
The residency will be open for tourists and visitors very soon.
The beautifully designed building in the scenic resort town was constructed in 1892, and served as the residence of the Governor General s agent in the region.
Quaid-e-Azam spent his last days while he was suffering from tuberculosis few months before his death in 1948.
The smart luggage is named as Bag2go designed by Airbus. The tracking chip works with Smartphone app to track the location of the luggage.
