ASI, SHO among 6 killed in Karachi violence

Six people including two cops were killed on Wednesday in fresh incidents of violence across the city.

Station House Officer (SHO) Ghazanfar Kazmi, resident of Garden Headquarters, was shot dead by unknown assailants near Makki Masjid, Garden Road when he was on his way home after a medical check-up at a private hospital.

According to DSP Mukhtar, unidentified miscreants opened gunfire at Kazmi’s vehicle from two sides near Anklesaria Hospital, killing him on the spot. The body has been shifted to Civil Hospital for medico-legal procedure.

In a separate firing incident, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Jameel Shah was killed near Gul Ahmed Chowrangi Qayoomabad by unknown assailants. The body of the slain ASI was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Hospital (JPMC) for an autopsy. The ASI had been suspended from duty, said police sources.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man Bashir, resident of North Karachi, was gunned down by unknown armed men in Kati Pahari. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for an autopsy.

In yet another incident, Aadam Shah, 30, son of Latif Shah, was killed in firing by unknown persons near Bhens Colony area. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for post-mortem.

An unidentified youth, aged about 25, was gunned down by unknown persons near Gaddani stop, Lyari. The body was shifted to CHK for an autopsy.

Separately, Kamal, 40, son of Wali Khan, resident of Shah Faisal Town, was tortured and left injured by unknown persons in Shah Faisal Town area.

He was shifted to JPMC where he succumbed to injuries.

Meanwhile Gul Perwan, 25, son of Ahmed Din, and Attaullah, 30, son of Ibrahim, resident of Landhi 1 were injured by unknown persons near Ghul Ahmed factory in Landhi.
