BUSINESSMEN RESENT DELAY IN METRO BUS PROJECT WORK:

Meanwhile, businessmen have resented delay in the work of the Metro Bus Project due to which citizens are facing great problems in movement.

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President and Traders Action Committee Secretary Information Khalid Chaudhry said that at the inauguration of the Metro Bus Project, it was assured that the project would be completed within 11 months and 7 months have passed, but the pace of work on this project, especially in Islamabad is quite slow. He said Islamabad has been dug up at many places from the IJP Road to D Chowk, but the situation of ongoing work is almost invisible and unnecessary delay in the project is causing lot of trouble for the citizens.

He called upon the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Metro Bus Project Chairman Hanif Abbasi to take notice of this situation and rid the citizens of unnecessary sufferings. He said yesterday, two labourers have died at Peshawar More when they were buried by the fall of a landmass and urged upon the management of the Metro Bus Project to take more precautionary measures for the safety of workers.

Khalid Chaudhry said the Blue Area is the largest business track in the federal capital and houses the offices of many multinational companies and businesses. However, diggings in the Blue Area have closed almost all the routes to this business centre. Moreover, no U-turn has been provided on Metro Bus Project in Blue Area due to which people face great problems and business activities are badly suffering.

He said a political party has planned to hold sit-in at D Chowk at the occasion of Independence Day which will bring more miseries to the businessmen of the area. He appealed to ICT Deputy Commissioner Mujahid Sher Dil to change the location of planned sit-in from D-Chowk to at any other place to save the traders from business loss.

He said despite congested area, traffic system in Rawalpindi is better managed, but due to diggings, Islamabad has been divided in two parts, especially at I-9, I-10 and G-9 areas and citizens are facing serious problems in movement. He said alternative routes should be provided and direction boards should be installed to facilitate the traffic and more police force should be deployed for the security of citizens. He also appealed to the CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal and Member Admin Amir Ali Ahmed to expedite part of the CDA work on the project for its timely completion.
