Thousands of students took to the streets in the metropolitan on Tuesday to condemn Israeli military strikes against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza strip.

Students of public and private schools participated in the demonstration organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to express solidarity with innocent Palestinian children. The protesting students were carrying banners and placards inscribed with anti-Israel slogans and they chanted slogans to denounce massacre of Palestinian children in Gaza.

More than 1,940 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have lost their lives and nearly 11,000 have been wounded since the Israeli military unleashed fatal assaults on the densely-inhabited strip on July 08. Latest estimates show that nearly 470 Palestinian children have been killed in the attacks. Children also make up almost one-third of the injured. The Israeli military says around 65 Israelis have died in the conflict, but the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas puts the number at more than 150.
