*CM vows to foil move against democracy
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has pledged to protect the democracy at all cost and the government will thwart every conspiracy to derail the set-up, said Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif while talking to assembly members, party office-bearers and workers on Monday.
Shahbaz said the country was passing through a critical juncture and in the prevailing situation it could not afford politics of agitation. He said those playing politics of disintegration were in fact foes of country’s progress and prosperity.
He said the claimants of revolution and march were jealous of the government’s rapid development agenda and wanted to push the country back in to darkness. He said the rejected and frustrated politicians should realise the gravity of the situation and renounce their protests and sit-ins in wider national interest.
“The economic condition of the country is improving while foreign exchange reserves have increased significantly but politics of protests is having a negative impact on the economy,” he said. He said 180 million people of Pakistan would foil every conspiracy against the democratic system.
The CM said it was not a time for revolution march or a long march but to express solidarity with the Pakistan Army who were fighting against terrorism and help the displaced persons of North Waziristan.
He said the PML-N government had taken solid measures for the welfare and betterment of people while several welfare programmes were being completed expeditiously.
The CM said every step would be taken for the protection of life and property of the people within the ambit of law and the constitution.
