Sanitary Workers Association (SWA) has voiced a strong protest against the decision of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) to sack sanitary workers and have convened a joint meeting of sanitation staff from Chaklala Cantonment Board, RCB and district governments to evolve a joint strategy against their termination.

They demanded of the board’s chief executive officer (CEO) to reinstate the sacked sanitary workers otherwise they will be forced to unleash string of protest rallies.

They said that sacking of over 200 sanitary workers by RCB has put the families of these workers on the brink of starvation.

Sources said CBR (CEO) Fahim Zafar Khan has started terminating from service those sanitary workers who were employed on contract basis.

Sanitary workers have said that more than the sanctioned strength of naib qasids has been appointed in different departments of RCB and on the other hand the sanitary workers who are working since the last 10 years are being sacked, calling it an unjust move.
