The Presidency on Monday refuted television reports that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif had visited Aiwan-e-Sadr and held a meeting with President Mamnoon Hussain.
A private news channel had claimed that the army chief had arrived at the Presidency in a helicopter but stopped short of giving details.
Reacting to the news break, Inter-Servies Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Salim Bajwa tweeted that no meeting had taken place between Gen Sharif and President Hussain.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Aiwan-e-Sadr Public Relations Officer Sarfraz Hussain also denied any meeting between the president and army chief, but he did not rule out the possibility of a visit by an army officer, stating that some army officers may have come to oversee the rehearsals being held for the army parade near the Presidency.
