Pakistan indulging in proxy war against India: Modi

Indian PM vows to bring ‘safron’ revolution in Kashmir valley

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lashed against Pakistan for continuing a proxy war of terrorism against India, saying Pakistan has lost the strength to fight a conventional war.

Addressing troops of Army and the Indian Air Force on a trip to Leh and Ladakh, Modi said the Indian armed forces were suffering more casualties from terrorism than from war.

Noting that this is a global problem, Modi said all humanitarian forces of the world should unite to fight it.

“India is committed to strengthening and uniting these humanitarian forces,” he said.

Modi said India is committed to strong armed forces, well-equipped with modern arms and technology. The jawans should be assured that the entire country supports them, he stressed.

The Indian PM said soldiers remain undeterred despite the negatives and struggles that their families face in day-to-day life, adding that he keeps visiting the armed forces on the border to seek inspiration from their energy and sense of duty.

“We will bring safron revolution in Jammu and Kashmir,” Modi said, quickly adding that he was talking about kesar (spice) of the state.

Saffron is the colour associated with Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

“I am fortunate to have worked as a BJP worker in Jammu and Kashmir and will repay the debt I owe you for all the love,” he said.

Modi inaugurated a power plant in the region and said the center will work for the development of the region.

Modi laid a foundation stone for the 349 kilometer-long Leh-Srinagar transmission line. Modi’s visit to the two Himalayan towns is expected to touch on demands of locals in Leh and Kargil, including employment generation and an assurance to take up with China and Pakistan respectively the issue of opening of Mansarovar Road from Leh and re-opening of Kargil-Skardu Road.
