The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed on Tuesday Karachi operation in-charge to appear before it and submit comprehensive report on the mechanism and manner in which the operation is being carried out by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in the city.

A division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh gave this direction while hearing a petition filed by Fakhruddin who sought recovery of his son, Arshad, who has been missing since March 2013.

The counsel for petitioner said the alleged detainee was taken away by LEAs in the presence of witnesses on March 10, 2013, from Usmanabad and since then there was no clue to him. He told the judges that FIR No 121/2013 was registered at Garden police station but police had made no progress for tracing him out.

The bench observed that number of petitions pertaining to missing men allegedly picked up during ongoing operation were pending disposal since long but except submitting comments by LEAs no progress for their recovery was made.

Hence, the court, directed the in-charge Karachi operation to place on record the comprehensive report regarding missing men allegedly picked up during operation and spell out the mechanism and manner in which operation was being carried out by the law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

Hearing of the case was adjourned till August 28.
