LAHORE-
Gullu Butt, the notorious police tout, was released on bail by Lahore High Court on Tuesday on submission of surety bonds worth 100,000 rupees, a private news channel reported.
Butt rose to prominence when he was caught wielding a baton and damaging vehicles in the presence of policemen during a clash between the police and workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on June 17 in Model Town Lahore.
He was arrested for vandalism on June 18 on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and was sent on a judicial remand.
Butt, through his lawyer, had submitted that police had wrongly implicated him in the case and pleaded the court to release him on bail.
