*Aerial coverage of public gatherings banned in Lahore
Authorities have banned aerial coverage of public gatherings in Lahore citing security reasons.
Fearing misuse of aerial devices for terrorism activities, officials warned that the flying equipments could be shot down if the orders were violated.
According to instructions issued by district administration, national and foreign media houses are not authorised to use their ‘heli-cameras’ to cover political public gatherings banned under Section-144 in Lahore.
Sources said the Federal Interior Ministry has also issued directives to district administration to ensure enforcement of the ban.
Reporters representing foreign and local media outlets have thronged to Lahore over the past few weeks to cover Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s anti-government campaign he kicked off since his arrival in Pakistan in June to bring about what he calls a ‘revolution’.
The city is experiencing crackdown against the PAT workers amid lockdown, suspension of cellular services and closure of fuel filling stations, leaving Lahorites in a state of constant depression.
