‘Allegations a figment of Khan’s imagination’

Almost all the people and institutions accused by Imran Khan of rigging the elections have rubbished his claims with Justice (r) Khaliur Rehman saying that he would take the cricketer-turned-politician to court over the allegations.

Commenting on Khan’s allegations, Ramday, who is abroad on a visit, said that he was returning to Pakistan this week and would pursue legal action against the PTI chairman for maligning his name.

“Imran Khan’s allegations are absurd and completely baseless. I will definitely take him to court for defamation,” he said.

Hasil Bizenjo also denied Khan’s claim, saying that he has not spoken or met the former CJP since the latter’s restoration to the apex court.

In his multi-million pound legal claim for defamation against Khan, Najam Sethi said the former cricketer’s allegations were motivated by anger because he had refused to withdraw a satirical column in his Friday Times newspaper. The column in question was a fictitious diary called ‘Im the Dim’.

“Not only is this column received very well in Pakistan, it is popular in the UK among your English friends, who often embarrass you,” Sethi has said in his claim.

In a statement, Riaz Kayani has also termed Khan’s allegations baseless.

Meanwhile, a NADRA spokesman rejected Khan’s allegations that the Authority was manipulating election material in the basement of COMSATS building.

“NADRA has repeatedly clarified about its facility at COMSATS building which was hired by Tariq Malik when he was deputy chairman of NADRA in April 2011 to carry out Electoral Rolls printing for Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP),” he said, adding that there is no room for manipulation in the election material in the presence of election tribunals’ representatives in whose presence the polling bags containing photo-electoral lists and counterfoils are opened and scanned before re-packing and re-sealing.
