Pakistan’s heartthrob Fawad Khan has revealed that he has long abandoned watching cricket owing to a defeat of Pakistan team by India back in 1996.

Khan, in an interview to Hindustan Times, also attributed his lack of interest in the most popular sport in the subcontinent to his diabetes diagnosis.

I stopped watching cricket way back in 1996 after Pakistan lost to India in World Cup; I cried very bitterly that night, as I was heartbroken,” he said.

“ In fact, my father told my mom that he will not watch any matches after that. But, I have been told that it is a big thing when both teams clash be it India, Pakistan or elsewhere.”

Also, at the age of 17, I was diagnosed with diabetes, so my interest in sports went down as I couldn’t play,” he added.

Fawad, debuting in Bollywood with Disney’s Khoobsurat, starring opposite Sonam Kapoor also expressed his wish to meet veteran Indian actor Dilip Kumar.

Talking about Dilip Kumar’s house in Pakistan being declared a national heritage, the actor called it a matter of pride of his nation and hoped he would be able to meet Kumar someday while adding that being an introvert, he has not met any Bollywood actors other than Sonam, Anil Kapoor and Aditya Pancholi.
