Companies move NEPRA for permission to raise power tariff

The power distribution companies have sought permission from NEPRA for raising power tariff from Rs 2 to Rs 7 per unit in respect of all consumers including domestic, commercial and industrial.

NEPRA has admitted for hearing the applications filed by Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (FESCO) and Peshawar Electricity Company (PESCO) while the application filed by Lahore Electricity Company (LESCO) is under consideration.

NEPRA said the distribution companies which have sent applications have sought permission for scaling up tariff ranging between Rs 2 to Rs 7, adding that it would, however, give decision after hearing all the respective stakeholders.

NEPRA said that FESCO had sought permission for increasing domestic power tariff from Rs 2 to Rs 4 per unit in respect of consumers using electricity up to 50 units per month, Rs 13.56 per unit for consumers using electricity ranging between 51 to 100 units, Rs 16.72 per unit for consumers using electricity from 101 to 300 unit per month, Rs 18.88 per unit in respect of  consumers using electricity from 301 units to 700 units and Rs 21.04 per unit for consumers consuming electricity beyond 700 units per month.

FESCO has sough permission for raising commercial tariff by Rs 21.04 per unit in respect of peak hours consumers and Rs 13.92 per unit for off peak hours consumers.

PESCO has sought permission for increasing domestic tariff up to Rs 6 per unit for consumers using electricity up to 50 units per month, Rs 18 per unit for consumers using electricity from 1 to 100 units, Rs 19 per unit for consumers consuming electricity from 101 to 300 units per month, Rs 20 per unit for consumers consuming electricity from 301 to 700 units and Rs 23 for consumers using electricity more than 700 units per month.
