Rawalpindi Social Welfare Department has constituted seven teams for conducting anti-dengue surveillance in select areas of Rawal Town.

This was revealed by Social Welfare District Officer Muhammad Aslam Maital while presiding over a training session organised for Anti-Dengue Surveillance. Dengue Control Program District Coordinator Dr Iqbal Haider gave training lessons to the surveillance team members. About 35 participants attended the training session.

Citing various dengue cases and initiatives, Dr Haider said that a large number of government officials have been trained as master trainers and it is imperative that every citizen keep a vigilant eye on his surrounding and not leave any nook and corner unattended so that dengue larvae could not get a favorable environment.

Social Welfare DO said that volunteers are undertaking comprehensive programmes to educate masses about dengue identification and women teams are paying door to door visits to educate housewives about dengue prevention measures.
