Punjab Law Minister Rana Mashhood Sunday said police were out to arrest Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Tahirul Qadri after he was charged on Sunday with murder after a policeman was killed during clashes with his supporters.
“Qadri is responsible for killing police officials and his own workers. Police have booked him for terrorism and murders and will arrest him soon,” said Mashhood.
The police constable was wounded in Lahore on Friday in confrontations with followers of Qadri, and died of his injuries late Saturday, police said.
“A case of murder, inciting violence and treason have been registered against Tahirul Qadri and his supporters,” senior police official Zulfiqar Hameed said.
