The first China Agriculture and Chemical (CAC) began at the Expo Centre on Tuesday. As many as 160 stalls have been set up by China, Pakistan and other countries.
Talking to journalists, Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed said that an atmosphere was being created for private investment in the agriculture sector.
He said that there were vast opportunities of partnership between Pakistan and China in the agriculture sector.
“We can increase our agriculture produce by taking advantage of the research done by China in the field,” he added.
The minister said that the dream for green revolution could not be materialised without introducing agriculture reforms.
The Punjab government was working on a biogas project to facilitate farmers, under which 20,000 diesel tube-wells in the province would be converted to biogas this year.
Dr Farrukh said that it was for the first time that a subsidy of Rs 14 billion was being given to the farmers on fertilisers.
China Council for the Promotion of Industry (CCPIT) President Miss Mao said that China had doubled the yield of vegetable and fruit during the last one decade and it was just because of research.
The exhibition will continue for two days.
