Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh on Thursday warned the government to avoid disrupting upcoming Youm-e-Shuhda event in Lahore and said if any disruptions were made by the PML-N leadership, the event would turn into Youm-e-Inqalab.
Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Sahikh said they had not announced any protest against government but if their peaceful event was disrupted, they would be forced to convert the event into Youm-e-Inqalab for which they had not announced any date yet.
He said their fear had come true as the PML-N government had started replay of June 17 incident that claimed lives of several people. The present regime was not a true democracy rather it was a worst example of civilian dictatorship, he said, adding the PML-N had sent several Gulu Butts to Tahirul Qadri residence to harass people.
He said the PML-Q could never leave the people on the mercy of present rulers as thousands of people would participate in Youm-e-Shuhuda event at Model Town Lahore from Sindh and other parts of the country. Thousands of people would show up at Youm-e-Shuhda event and send the government packing till the end of present month – August.
He said during long march for the restoration of judges, Nawaz Sharif had asked policemen to refuse illegal orders of rulers which led a police officer to refuse baton charging protestors in Lahore. Shahbaz Sharif had also threatened to drag former president Asif Ali Zardari on roads but no cases were lodged against them for inciting people for violence, but now the PML-N was registering cases against Tahirul Qadri, he recalled.
He asked the PML-N as to why cases were not lodged against killings at Model Town and the people responsible for those acts.
The PML-Q leader said innocent people were being arrested for having affiliations with political parties which were staging protest against the government but the PML-N leader involved in ransacking police station was roaming freely.
He said the PTI and the PML-Q had the same direction and they would soon join each other. The PPP was in the middle of situation but soon they would also be a part of the movement against PML-N, he said, adding that MWM was also part of their alliance against the government.
The Nawaz government was conspiring to bring army and people in front of each other. The army was more required in Karachi than Islamabad, he commented.
