CM wants construction of Secretariat Complex to complete by Sep

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah Thursday directed the management of works and services department to complete all codal formalities and start the construction work on Sindh Secretariat Complex Project by the end of September 2014.

He directed them to complete the construction work of this project within three years. He said the project had already been approved by the Cabinet at its estimated cost of Rs 9.429 billion and the Sindh government had allocated Rs 550 million this year.

The chief minister said the government was experiencing shortage of office accommodation and had remained without proper facilities to house the various departmental offices since 1947. Apart from this, most of Sindh government offices were also housed in rented premises, he added.

He said the Sindh government had planned to construct a new Secretariat consisting of offices and allied facilities to accommodate all government departments at one place.

Works and Services Secretary Kazi Shahid Perviaz while briefing the meeting said that this project was divided into two phases including construction of Sindh Secretariat Complex at the location of Sindh Secretariat 4-A at the cost of Rs 4,726 million, and construction of Sindh Secretariat Complex No 08 at the location of Sindh Secretariat 4-B at the cost of Rs 4,703 million.

The proposed design on the site of Secretariat 4-A consists of six buildings: five of these buildings are ground +5 and the one is ground +15 having total covered area of 9,62,097 sft concerned area. The site of Secretariat 4-B consists of 4 buildings, out of which 03 buildings are ground +5 and one is ground +15 having 8,82,477 sft concerned area.

The scheme will also have basement parking facility of cars up to 1,000 numbers besides special function buildings like auditorium, function hall, cafeterias, mosque, conference halls, server rooms, library, computer cell, allied facilities like underground tanks, overhead tanks, water treatment plant, electric power substations, utility services, external development works, landscaping, effective security system, CCTV cameras and fire fighting system.

After threadbare discuss and briefing on the charts, the chief minister placed some suggestions and asked them to incorporate the same in the designed. Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiyana also attended the meeting.
