Ashrafi for treason case against Tahirul Qadri

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Allama Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has demanded early institution of a treason case against Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri for his ‘anti-state activities’ and threats to off-set a democratically elected government.

Ashrafi, on Wednesday, said Qadri was conspiring to push the country towards civil war and allowing him to create a law and order situation will be dangerous for the country.

“Government must not show any flexibility and should arrest Qadri as early as possible to frustrate his agenda of destabilising the country and harm the democratic set-up,” he said.

He said politically aware and wise people would not be hoodwinked by Qadri’s slogan of so-called revolution.

Ashrafi posed an open question to Qadri as to why he has become active from dormancy ever since democracy was gaining roots here and all state organs are running smoothly.

Ashrafi said the nation was at war against terrorists and sacrificed thousands of precious lives. He said people won’t allow the PAT chief to play with their destiny.
