FIR against Qadri for ‘inciting violence’

LAHORE-

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed Wednesday against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri by Punjab government for ‘inciting violence’, a private news channel reported.

According to the reports, the FIR was lodged in Lahore’s Faisal Town police station following a meeting of the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.

During the meeting, directives were issued to Punjab Law Department for reviewing the PAT chief’s speech on August 3 (Sunday) in which he allegedly incited the public to attack policemen in retaliation of the death of 15 PAT workers during Model Town incident on June 17.
