Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Barrister Usman Ibrahim on Monday directed the officials to expedite the work for setting up Federal Government College of Home Economics, Management Sciences and Specialized Discipline, F-11/1.
The minister issued the directive during a meeting with Ms Kousar Beig, Project Director for the college’s establishment.
The minister was told that the college would have five academic blocks; each block would contain labs, a library, lecture halls, a seminar room, and research centres etc. Specialized disciplines to be offered in the college would include Art and Design Department, Architecture, Food and Nutrition, Interior and Environmental Design Department and Public Health department etc.
More than 3,000 underprivileged female students would receive professional and technical training for women empowerment, while about 3,000 others would acquire diplomas and certificates in various fields of home economics.
The curriculum for BS, MS and PhD programmes has been designed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
