Metro Bus Project’s work resumes after Eid holidays

After consuming the Eid holidays, the workers and labourers have resumed construction work of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project.

After week-long holidays, the work on the project has not only started but also going at a fast pace in order to complete the multi-billion mass transit project within stipulated time.

With the completion of this mass transit project, it would help cater thousands of passengers in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The project, that was launched in March, this year and is scheduled to be completed before the end of current year.

MBS Project Chairman Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said that the project was a unique example of speed, transparency and standard and its successful launching would silence its critics. He said that with the completion of project, the temporary inconvenience of citizens in the twin cities would change into a permanent relief.

The Metro Bus Service Project is a public welfare project and every effort is being made for its speedy completion, while ensuring its quality and the project will be state-of-the-art in every respect and it will bring about a revolutionary change in the transport system.

It is pertinent to mention here that the site for metro bus service depot had been acquired near Peshawar Morr. The depot, costing Rs 1.5 billion will be constructed in a record time of four months.

The metro bus depot project would involve construction of parking plazas, building works, roads, drainage and ancillary works. He said pre-qualification of contractors for the purpose had already been announced.

The land acquiring process for setting up 10 bus terminals for metro bus was underway. These terminals would be set up at Flashman Hotel Cantt, Mareer Hassan, Liaquat Bagh, Committee Chowk, Waris Khan, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Rehmanabad,Sixth Road, Shamsabad and Faizabad.
