Zahoor-ul-Hasan, the son of late Master Altaf Hussain, the tailor of Pakistan’s flag, has called upon the government to officially acknowledge the name of his father as the first tailor of national flag.

Addressing a news conference at Hyderabad Press Club, Hassan said his father was the “Salaar” of Muslim League National Guards and one of the members of the guards who were selected for the security of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

On the directives of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Hassan claimed that his father prepared a handmade flag of Pakistan in June 1947 and became the first tailor of the national flag.

“On this effort, Quaid-e-Azam and Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan gave my father the national honour of being the first tailor of the national flag,” he said.

Hassan informed that he himself and his mother, Shakila Begum, submitted several applications with available records to high-ups with request to acknowledge the services of late Master Altaf Hussain, but no acknowledgement had so far been received by the family.

He appealed to the government to officially acknowledge the services of his late father and provide government jobs to his children.
