Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday directed authorities concerned to expedite the up-gradation of the country’s electricity transmission and distribution system for smooth distribution of power generated from old and new projects and controlling line losses.
He was chairing a meeting at the PM House to review the progress on Pakistan-China Joint Commission on energy projects, including early harvest projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Water and Power Muhammad Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Special Assistants to PM Tariq Fatemi and Dr Musadik Malik and other senior officers.
“No laxity would be tolerated on part of the project teams working on up-gradation of power transmission and distribution system. We aim at providing affordable electricity to the masses”, the PM said.
He said that he would personally monitor the progress on energy projects to ensure that timelines are met.
“We are set on track to resolve the country’s problems,” he said.
Sharif said that those engaging in negative politics want to create rather than solve problems faced by Pakistan.
