Agro Chemical Expo to revolutionise Pakistan’s agriculture sector

A two-member Chinese delegation led by Sub Council of Chinese Chemical Industry Vice Chairman Ma Chunyan called on Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industries (LCCI) President Engineer Sohail Lashari and briefed him about the CAC Pakistan Summit and Pak-China Agro Chemical Expo scheduled for August 5 and 6 at the Lahore Expo Centre.

LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah and coordinator of the exhibition Jawed Salim Qureshi were also present in the meeting.

The two-member delegation briefed the LCCI office-bearers about participants of the exhibition and the objectives behind the summit. They said that the objective of this mega event was to revolutionise Pakistan’s agriculture sector by providing it with latest and cheaper solutions to the problems.

Ma Chunyan said that it was not only the people from the pesticide industry who are taking part in the exhibition but the businessmen belonging to agriculture machinery and fertilizers are also joining this exhibition that is first of its kind in Pakistan.

She said that once the farming community adopts the techniques available in the international market, the productivity of the agriculture sector would not only jump up but this would also enable them to resolve the issues with ease.

She said that quite a few Chinese companies were also bringing with them solution to make barren lands productive.

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari said that the LCCI has taken the initiative to hold this rare exhibition and summit to strengthen the agriculture sector where the productivity is almost stagnant for the last many years.

He said that they knew about quite a few cases where the productivity deteriorated instead of registering any increase.

The LCCI president said that the CAC Conference and Exhibition would be first in South Asia as the company chose Pakistan because of huge lands were available here and the chances to increase productivity were manifold.

Lashari said that they are very glad to coordinate with the CAC, which sets up world’s largest agro-chemical trading platform in China every year with most updated policies, products, technologies and market dynamics.

He said that the CAC has broadened its network by exhibiting in Europe, Brazil and other locations in the world. It is going to be the first time that the CAC is holding such an event and summit in South Asia.

The LCCI president said that this would add another chapter of success in the history of international exhibitions in Pakistan that a large number of Chinese companies are participating in this exhibition.

Pakistan is an agrarian economy but we lag far behind in terms of obtaining the desired level of knowledge and ways to combat with potential threats to our food and cash crops existing in the form of pests, unnecessary herbs and scarcity of water, he said.

The CAC promises to display and convince the use of modern technologies developed over the period of time through research and development in the field of agriculture.

The LCCI president further said that the CAC Pakistan will provide a joint forum to government officials and industry professionals to highlight the benefits of using pesticides, fertilizers, processed seeds, affordable agriculture equipment and machinery.
