MQM delegation discusses political situation with Dr Qadri

A high-level delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) called on Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri at his residence on Friday to discuss multiple issues relating the political scenario in the country.

The MQM delegation was led by Haider Abbas Rizvi.

It is pertinent to note here that Dr Tahirul Qadri has raised voice of ‘Green Revolution’ in the country in consonance with the principles anchored in the Constitution of Pakistan, according to him.

The MQM was the only party that attended the PAT’s public gathering held on December 23, 2012 to welcome Dr Qadri on his homecoming. Qadri, flying into Pakistan a few months ahead of May 11 general elections, demanded sweeping electoral reforms in the run up to the polls.

Stressing upon his demands, the PAT convened a Long March from Lahore that culminated in a five-day sit-in at D-Chowk of Islamabad amidst frosty weather conditions.

The MQM backed out of its commitment to attend the D-Chowk sit-in; however, it continued to support Dr Qadri and his demands for electoral reforms.
