An alleged gangster was killed and another injured during separate raids conducted by the Rangers and police in Lyari on Friday.
Police and Rangers personnel reportedly conducted a raid at Cheel Chowk in Lyari where unidentified criminals opened fire on them and in retaliatory fire, a criminal was killed. Police claimed that the killed man was member of Lyari gang war.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the accused could not be ascertained.
Separately, police claimed that a Lyari gang war accused Saad alias Baba, son of Abdullah, was injured during an encounter with the police and Rangers at Nawa Lane area of troubled Lyari. The accused was arrested in an injured condition and shifted to CHK for treatment.
The police said that the accused was involved in various crimes including extortion, kidnapping for ransom and targeted killing. They said that Baba was affiliated with Naeem Lahooti Group.
Arms and one hand grenade were also recovered from the possession of the killed and injured accused, police said.
