The government has chalked out a comprehensive plan to celebrate the 67th Independence Day of Pakistan in a befitting manner.

Under the plan, a range of special ceremonies kicked off on Friday and will continue throughout August, highlighting the struggle and sacrifices of our forefathers for an independent country.

The government has asked all Pakistanis to hoist the national flag on their roofs and vehicles to send a message of unity and solidarity to the internal and external enemies of Pakistan.

According to reports, a special parade and a flypast would be held in Islamabad on the eve of Independence Day while a traditional Independence Day ceremony will be arranged on the August 14.

The government will encourage the civil society, NGOs, bars, professional organisations and religious leaders to participate in the Independence Day celebrations.

The government also plans to hold special programmes for the internally displaced persons of North Waziristan to express solidarity with the IDPs and the armed forces.

Pakistan Railways will run an ‘Azadi Train’ from Peshawar on August 11 which would reach Karachi on September 11, after covering a distance of four thousand kilometers.

Sports competitions will also be held at district and tehsil level in connection with the Independence Day celebrations.
