Karachi plunges into darkness as lines trip

Most areas of Karachi were devoid of electricity as many high tension lines tripped simultaneously on Friday. The electricity could not be resumed even after seven hours. According to K-Electric, efforts to recover electricity are underway.

At around 3:30 am on Friday, the high tension lines tripped, depriving 90 percent of Karachi’s areas including Sharah-e-Faisal, Shah Faisal, Malir, Landhi, Korangi, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan Iqbal, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Surjani, Orangi Town, S.I.T.E and Baldia from electricity. The power outage has caused immense problems for the locals.

According to K-Electric officials, 12 out of 62 feeders tripped that caused the power cut off. They further explained that the Eid holidays have added to the delay in the process of restoration of supply as majority of staff members were off duty.
