Democracy-lovers will unite to call off ‘long march’, ‘revolution’: info minister

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has hopes that all pro-democracy political parties will play a role to convince Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek leader Tahirul Qadri to adopt a legal course to press for their respective demands.

During an interview, the minister said Pakistan People’s Party, Awani National Party, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Jamaat-e-Islami and Qaumi Jamhuri Party will begin mediation to this affect during the upcoming session of the National Assembly.

Rashid said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership is also in contact with some members of PTI and PAT to persuade them not to disturb the democratic system at a time when the country has been put on path to progress and prosperity.

Rashid said that the government will welcome any proposals by the PTI chief to ensure speedy disposal of pending electoral disputes, adding that the government will support any legislation in the Parliament in this regard.
