Three minor siblings who had arrived at their aunt’s house to celebrate the second day of Eid were electrocuted on Wednesday by the flow of current in a utility pole.
The tragedy took place near Kohluwala in Gujranwala. As per media reports, 10-year-old boy came in contact with a utility pole that had current flowing through it. Upon seeing their brother in trouble, the two minor sisters came to the rescue, resulting in electrocution of all three of them.
The uncle of the deceased children said that the children had come to their aunt’s house at Shadman Town. The father of the three children is a labourer.
The incident sparked a sense of fear throughout the area resulting in grounding of neighbourhood children.
The dead bodies were sent to the DHQ hospital for post-mortem. The neighbourhood protested against the incident after blocking the road and chanted slogans against Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO).
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and ordered investigations. GEPCO chief Mian Munir suspended Khayali Line Superintendent Subdivision Babar Rashid and Line Man Muhammad Latif. He said that the incident will be fully probed and culprits will be brought to justice.
TOXIC LIQUOR KILLS THREE:
Meanwhile in Khanewal, homemade liquor poisoned three persons near Jaswant Nagar on the first day of Eidul Fitr.
According to police, two friends Muhammad Aashiq and Zahid, residents of Jaswant Nagar Khanewal fell unconscious after consuming the liquor and died on the spot. A third person perished later at a hospital.
