From Gaza to Gujranwala

The baby girl Shaima, delivered from her dead mother’s body on July 26th, has joined her mother in heavens, thanks to stoppage of power to her incubator; another feather of pride for Israel Defence Forces. Interestingly some Israeli politicians have been asking for Nobel Prize for the IDF because of the restraint shown by them. Obviously this baby girl and hundreds of Palestinian children murdered in cold blood during the ongoing conflict in Gaza are not getting much attention of those who manage the world affairs in UNSC. If we don’t have any reason for this inaction, then sadly Gaza may not be the only place where innocent civilians are being targeted.

On the Eid eve, when people were preparing for the festivities after observing the dawn to dusk fasts during the holy month of Ramazan, in Gujranwala, Pakistan, evil forces were at the forefront to do something else — arson, looting and lynching. Victims included a pregnant women whose unborn baby died during the arson. Shaima might have opened her eyes to see this cruel world, but this unnamed baby in Gujranwala refused to even look at her killers. It’s being reported that police contingents reached at the crime scene but just played a role of a silent spectator and didn’t interfere what a religiously motivated and charged mob was determined to do: lynching.

Hundreds of innocent civilians are being killed in Syria and Iraq, without getting much attention of our power brokers and leaders. Will there be a day in our life time when we will stop playing the God role and take a pause in killing of other human beings only because they are not of our faith?
