After seeing unprecedented rush of motorists at the Murree hill station, City Traffic Police (CTP) on Thursday afternoon imposed a four-day ban on entry of vehicles in one of the most attractive picnic spots to keep the traffic movement under control.

“Since first day of Eid, around 93,000 vehicles have entered Murree, leaving no parking space for more. The situation forced the CTP to impose ban on entry of vehicles coming from other cities except permanent residents of the area,” said Chief Traffic Office (CTO) Shoaib Khurram Janbaz Thursday.

He advised the tourists to avoid visiting Murree these days and reschedule their programme after four days as the entry restriction would remain intact till Sunday (August 3).

Traffic wardens, he said, were sending back vehicles coming from other cities at four entry points, including Bhara Kahu, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa link roads.

At the entry points, the CTO said that the motorists were being explained in a polite manner about overflowing number of vehicles and a “house full” situation in Murree, with a request to return to avoid inconvenience. He said traffic police were performing their duties with full strength in a highly professional manner to ensure smooth flow of traffic at the roads leading to the hill station. He said all-out efforts were being made to extend maximum facilities and guidance to the people spending their Eid holidays in Murree.
