28, including KP lawmaker’s brother, killed during Eid holidays

At least 28 people lost their lives in various incidents during the three days of Eidul Fitr.

Ten people, including the brother of a former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) minister, were killed and six injured in two different incidents in Chakdara Tehsil of Lower Dir and Karak districts.

According to police sources, six people, including former minister and sitting KP Assembly MPA Bakht Bedar Khan’s brother and former nazim Ishaq Khan and police personnel were killed and three others injured in an overnight assault at Bedar’s residence in Lower Dir. Bedar was not present at his residence at the time of the attack. Two cops were also reported killed in the attack.

In a separate incident, four people were killed and three others were injured in Torr March, Karak district on Tuesday. According to details, two rival groups clashed over an old enmity and resorted to firing in which four people were killed.

FOUR LABOURERS KILLED IN COALMINE COLLAPSE:

Four labourers, including two brothers, were killed in a coalmine collapse on Wednesday.

The labourers were engaged in their work in a coalmine in Kakakhel, Khyber Agency when the coalmine caved in, burying the labourers under the debris. Rescue teams recovered three bodies whereas one labourer succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

VAN FALLS IN RIVER, EIGHT DROWN:

At least eight persons, including three women, drowned when a passenger coach fell into the Skardu river near Khaplo in District Ghanche on Wednesday.

According to media reports, the driver lost control of the Skardu-bound coach at a sharp turn near Yogo village. As a result, the coach veered off the road and plunged into the river.

Rescue officials have retrieved at least four bodies, as the search continues.

SIX KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT:

Six people were killed and 12 others sustained injuries on Monday when a passenger van hit a tree.

Police said the van was going to Alipur from Multan when the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle which crashed into a tree near Adda Suleman Wala Khangarh.

Three passengers, Abid Hussain, Salahuddin and Nauman died on the spot, while 15 others sustained serious injuries. The injured were shifted to a hospital where three, identified as Ayaz, Mughees and Muhammad Abid, succumbed to their injuries.
