PTI chief says he’ll register murder case against PM if PTI workers are subjected to violence by govt agencies during ‘Azadi March’

Urges Pakistan Army to remain neutral in political standoff, says PTI will challenge imposition of Article 245 in court

Condemns Sindh and Punjab govts for ‘stopping IDPs from entering the provinces

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday threatened to file a murder case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif if violence was used against his party workers during PTI’s August 14 ‘Azadi March’.

Khan said this in Bannu where he celebrated Eidul Fitr with the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency, one day before the rest of Pakistan. The PTI chief spent some time with the IDPs and distributed gifts amongst them.

He said that PTI and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government will do everything they can for people affected by the ongoing military operation in NWA, adding that the entire nation is standing by the IDPs. Condemning the Sindh and Punjab governments’ decision to stop IDPs from entering the provinces, the PTI chief remarked that the IDPs are Pakistanis and it is their constitutional right to go to any part of Pakistan.

Talking to reporters later, Khan said that the Pakistan Army should not support the government and stay neutral. He reiterated that PTI will challenge the imposition of Article 245 in Supreme Court.

He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has contacted him and agreed to answer Khan’s questions, including who scripted Nawaz’s victory speech on May 11, 2013, what was the role of Punjab caretaker CM Najam Sethi and then-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, and why returning officers were not put in place under the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The PTI chief said that he might ask Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahirul Qadri to become a part of his ‘Azadi March’ but added that he does not agree with Qadri’s ‘revolution’.

In response to ongoing rumours that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is considering to join PTI, Khan said his party’s doors are always open for Nisar as he is the only person in Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) who is not a “darbari”.
