Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid has said that Eidul Fitr and Independence Day celebrations have a special significance this year as the country was inching out of its financial and economic woes and the armed forces were fighting a decisive war against the scourge of worst form of terrorism in North Waziristan.

In letters to heads of media organisations on the eve of Eidul Fitr and Independence Day, Rashid said that while everyone will agree that our armed forces need support and backing of the entire nation, the people of Pakistan also need an opportunity to express confidence and resolve to achieve all those exalted objectives which formed the basis for creation of this country.

The information minister said keeping this in view, the government has planned a month long celebrations to bring people of the country stand united under the shadow of our national flag. He said this will send a clear and strong message to the detractors that the entire nation stands united to bring peace, progress and prosperity and is fully geared to contribute its due share in making this world a better place to live. He sought active support of the media outfits for encouraging and motivating people across the country for making the Independence Day celebrations a resounding success.
