199 prisoners released ahead of Eid

Several prisoners imprisoned for petty crimes have been released by the federal government ahead of Eidul Fitr.

In Faisalabad, 199 prisoners were released from all three jails in the city. Jail sources said that 182 prisoners from District Jail, 14 from Central Jail and three inmates from Borstal Jail were released.

District and Sessions Court Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi visited Kasur District Jail where he gave Eid clothes and presents to women prisoners. He also ordered the release of 21 inmates involved in petty crimes.

A large number of prisoners, involved in different crimes, had filed a petition to be released so that they can celebrate Eid with their families. However, their petitions are still waiting to be heard.
