Two Rangers were gunned down in Karachi on Sunday.
The shooting incident took place at Landhi Hospital, Chowrangi. Police said unknown gunmen opened fire on Rangers men in front of a shop moments before Iftar. In a media statement, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif denounced the murder of Rangers personnel and termed it a cowardly act.
“Rangers are rendering great sacrifices for the restoration of law and order in Karachi,” he said.
Two TTP terrorists among 8 criminals killed
Law enforcement agencies on late Saturday night conducted a raid in different areas of the city and killed eight criminals including two of a banned terrorist outfit.
Rangers’ personnel gunned down two terrorists belonging to a banned organisation in Frontier Colony on Saturday night. Rangers’ spokesperson confirmed that the dead criminals belonged to the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan who were also involved in murders of Rangers men. Heavy cache of weapons was recovered from the custody of criminals.
Meanwhile, two extortionists were shot dead in a joint raid of police and Rangers near Al-Asif Square. The criminals were following a garment factory owner for collecting collect extortion money and they were also affiliated with a banned terrorist outfit.
Separately, police personnel shot a robber dead in an encounter in Orangi. In another incident, three terrorists’ were killed by Rangers in a shootout that took place in Manghopir area while two others were arrested. Sources informed that those killed were the mastermind of attack on Rangers headquarters in Nazimabad and target killing of police officials.
