Intermittent rain lashes parts of country

Monsoon downpours are intermittently lashing several parts of the country.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), different parts of the country received showers during the last 24 hours. The rain recorded in Balakot was 97mm, Muzaffarabad 90mm, Islamabad (Saidpur 71mm, ZP 38mm, Golra 11mm, Bokra 18mm), Rawalpindi (Chaklala 54mm, Shamsabad 22mm), Garidupatta 23mm, Hyderabad 16mm, Thatta 13mm, Malamjabba 11mm, Murree 11mm, Chirat 10mm, Mirpurkhas 5mm, Saidu Sharif 3mm, Kakul, Mangla, Karachi, Rawalakot and Barkhan 1mm.

Widespread rain with thundershower is expected in most parts of the country on Saturday.

Temperature of some major cities recorded on Saturday morning was: Islamabad 24 degree centigrade, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar 28, Quetta and Muzaffarabad 25, Murree 18 and Gilgit 23 degree centigrade.

According to the synoptic situation, well-marked seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan and its adjoining areas with its trough extending southeastwards. Strong monsoon currents are continuously penetrating into upper and central parts of the country and Sindh.
